Coaster Collection - Batwing

The Ride
Adults, and kids alike have always dreamed of being Batman. Flying close to buildings, soaring through the air, without a sense of danger. Well now Six Flags has made that dream a reality. Batwing will take you to the limits and beyond. The new coaster at Six Flags America takes the title of the ultimate flying coaster away from the first flyer Stealth. After Six Flags Worlds of Adventure pulled the wraps of X-Flight, SFA went into the planning stage for their very own flyer. In 2001 SFA pulled the wraps off of Batwing. With a 115 foot lift hill and 1,800 degrees of maneuvers within 3,340 feet of track, Batwing will stay the favorite for a long time.

The Experience
Riders board the unique "flying trains", and then the thrills begin. The seats recline to a lay back position and climb the 12 story lift hill. From there riders a rotated 180 degrees and get the feeling of flying. Riders fly down the first drop and into an overbanked horseshoe curve. Then it's on to the next 180 degree roll, that flips the trains upright, and through a vertical loop. Then the riders a flipped again, as they curve through the lift hill. The trains head around a banked curve into a double spin. Then Batwing implies the grand finale. Riders are thrown through a 540 degree helix. Riders get the sense of flying just inches above the ground and then the final half flip, riders are turned upright and into the station.
