Coaster Collection - Aerial Inversion Ride

The Ride
Alton Tower decided to bring a coaster into their small park called Nemesis. Nemesis helped bring in Oblivion, and now the icing on the cake for Alton Towers is AIR. AIR or Aerial Inversion Ride is the brainchild of B&M. Alton Tower long time friends and designers of Nemesis and Oblivion, brought their flying coaster design to the table and Alton Towers loved it. Air starts a little different than other flying coasters. The riders start out in flying mode which give AIR an extra twist. AIR also brings in the first ever flying coaster tunnel.

The Experience
Alton Tower built a wonderful themed queve for this ride. When you finally get to the station where they load into the flying cars in a reclined position. The cars round a 180 degree  turn to the lift hill and rise over the final turn of Nemesis. After being pulled to the top of a 7 story lift hill the trains drop in a right handed dive. AIR then soars riders into a left hand curve. Riders are then inverted above the track and enter the darkness of a tunnel head first. AIR exits the tunnel and throws riders through a figure-8 type inversion. They then exit the element once again in flying position. The track drops downward and into a flap spin with a corkscrew like element to flip riders skyward. The train exits the flat spin and makes a 180 degree banked turn into the brakes.
