Coaster Collection - Lockness Monster

The Ride
In 1978 Lochness Monster openned at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and was a hit. This was their first coaster that was actually stationary. Until this time all their coasters we portables. BGW contacted Arrow Dynamics to build this new coaster, that would feature something new. The coaster would have a set of interlocking loops. This element still gives riders a thrill today. Other Arrow coasters, like Orient Express have used this element, but Lockness Monster is still the first to have the element in it's 3240 feet of track. This coaster will be a must ride at Busch Gardens Williamsburg for a long time to come.

The Experience
This Arrow creation starts with a chain lift that carries you to the top of a 114 foot drop. Next you turn and go down the 114 foot drop. Next you go back up and turn around and go down another drop to see that you're headed into the first of the two interlocking loops. Then you go through a cave that is full of helixes and there are pictures of the Loch Ness Monster that light up on the walls. A second chain lift gives you a chance to catch you breath, but next you head straight for the second of the two loops where you better smile for the onride photo section, then it's back into the station for the end of a great coaster.

When you're done, you will have the urge to do it all over again
