The Ride
Vegas seems to have a thing for turning out top notch coasters, but there's one disadvantage to it all, The heat. That's why Adventure Dome decided to make a few very smart moves. The first one was to build a small park, with an Arrow coaster as the center piece, the second was to build the park indoors. Adventure Dome opened it's door in 1993 with the new double loop, double corkscrew coaster Canyon Blaster. The first idea that comes to most people's head is, "it's an indoor coaster, that means it's boring and tame." You couldn't be more wrong with that idea. Canyon Blaster reaches speeds of 45 mph, and turns you upside down 4 times in 2, 423 feet of track. It's certainly a coaster that fits right in with the Vegas coaster group.
The Experience
After boarding one of two 28-passegner, seven-car trains and your journey begins. Leaving the station the Canyon Blaster makes a sharp turn before starting the climb up the nine-story lift hill. As the chain disengages, passengers are 90 feet above the floor below. The ride begins with a quick turn around the highest mountain in the Adventuredome. The train suddenly makes a six story drop and riders find themselves experiencing some airtime . Next comes 66-foot drop. The trains, now traveling at the top speed of 45 mph, begin to make their way through two vertical loops, which is followed by a quick banked turn sending riders into another set ofinversions. Throught the double corkscrew, and into the Canyon Blaster's final element. The trains circle around the outside of the mountain and then it's inside of the moutain through a dark tunnel before you hit the brake run.
