The Ride
Tremors is a simply incredible creation courtesy of the great folks at Custom Coasters International. It opened on May 15, 1995 as CCI follow-up to Timber Terror. This coaster themed around the 1990 moive "Tremors" by MCA Universal has a unique feature that is only available on this coaster. The train actually exits a tunnel right through the middle of the gift shop. It reaches speeds of 60 mph in 3000 feet of track. It contains 4 underground tunnels and riders face 2.5 g's as they swerve and twist over the landscape if Silverwood Theme Park.
The Experience
Tremors begins with a climb up an 85 foot tall lift hill. From there, you round a corner and approach the 103 foot first drop. The train dives underground before shooting up through the floor and out the side of the gift shop. You're in the open air for about 1 second before dropping into the 2nd of 4 underground tunnels. After a series of twists and turns, you head to an area where a sign reads "Bridge out". The train barrels past the bridge and hits the far end of the track, which goes into a great dipping turn. You hit a couple of bunny hops with great airtime before dipping in and back out of the last 2 tunnels. Finally, the train hits the brakes and everyone can finally catch their breath.
