My Vacation Park Review
By: Coaster Josh
Recently I visited Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, Cedar Point, and Kennywood. All the parks had great coasters, but in some aspects SFWOA and Kennywood were better than Cedar Point.
I'll start with all the coasters at SFWOA. Let's start with Batman Knight Flight. A great B&M coaster standing at 157 feet tall, but I've never had my head beat off the over the shoulder bar that much in my life. It seemed like every time the train turned my head hit full force. After a few hits you get used to it and it's a great ride.
Let's see what's next, how about Serial Thriller. All I can say is, it's one of the best massed produced coasters I've ridden. Vekoma definitely hit on a great design. It's a fast no stop ride from the beginning to end. I don't have anything bad to say about this ride.
The woodies at SFWOA are also great. Villian is a great themed coaster with a lot of good drops and sudden turns. The only bad thing about this coaster is when you ride it after it rains, it feels like the lap bar is trying to smash you jewels into little pieces. Raging Wolf Bobs is another great woodie, but has about the same ride as Villian, even without the rain.
Superman Ultimate Escape is the only coaster in the park that I just don't understand. It doesn't open till about 6:00 and then when you finally get in line and get close to the station it breaks down. I'm sure it would have been a great ride, if I would have got to ride the stupid thing. X-Flight, what can I say about X-Flight. It's a great coaster. The line is a little long, but there isn't anyway I can diss this coaster. Right on Vekoma.
Let's move on to Cedar Point now. After watching about 100 specials on Cedar Point's coasters, I decided to experience it for myself. Millennium Force was a great ride, but the line was the downfall. I had to wait an hour and a half for a 2 minute 45 second ride. It was definitely worth it, but most people wouldn't do it. Truly I don't see what the hype is about Magnum. Sure it was the tallest coaster at one time, but it's as rough as hell. I've never been beat around so much, except on Batman Knight Flight.
Mantis, the most uncomfortable coaster in the world. After you're strapped in and the seat has smashed you balls into your stomach, it's fun. Definitely not worth the wait. Raptor is a great ride, except for the green supports covered in Sea Gull crap. The batwing is a little rough, but the rest of the ride is a great experience.
Mean Streak and Gemini are by far the best coasters in the park, but they never get any praise. I can't diss these coasters, because they are the best woodies I've ridden in my life. Wicked Twister, like I said before is a hard coaster to figure out. I go to the park hoping to ride it, because SFWOA's Superman broke down and Wicked Twister never opens. What's up with dat.
I would like to clear up one thing, I loved Cedar Point, and I thought it's rides were really great. The only reason I wrote about it was because, their rides have so much hype, that it takes away from the small parks. Do a special on Kennywood sometime, and cut back on the hype.
Kennywood is a great park, but the ravine thing gets a little old. With the Jack Rabbit, Thunderbolt, and Phantom's Revenge using the ravine, it's time for something new. Phantom's Revenge was great except for the last bunny hill snaping my neck. Exterminator is one of the best indoor coasters I've rode, it's even better than Disaster Transport at Cedar Point.
The Racer fits in the same category as Mean Streak and Gemini. It's another great woodie, that cannot be dissed. It's all great and I hope Kennywood never removes it.
That's all for this week. Tune in next week when I discuss what's up with Arrow Dynamics.
