The Ride
Dorney Park nestled in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania started as a nice quiet park until coasters took over the scene. Dorney Park opened Steel Force in 1997. This out and back style 200+ hyper coaster really sets the standard for small park coasters. The 10 million dollar ride was the fourth major coaster that debuted at Dorney Park. It's first drop can be seen towering over the once tallest wooden coaster drop of ThunderHawk. Steel Force was one of the first hypers for Cedar Fair and it proved to be a good investment.
The Experience
You board the 36 passenger trains and roll out of the station to start it climb up the 156 foot lift hill. At the top the chain disengages and the ride starts it plunge down the 65 degree first drop. The train then flies through a 120 foot tunnel and climb a second hill of 156 feet and plunges downward again and climbs a third 100 foot hill. The ride then enter a helix and straightens out into a strip of bunny hops and head choppers. The ride enters the second half of the tunnel and hits the brakes.
