Coaster Collection - Phantom's Revenge

The Ride
When Kennywood Park introduced the tallest, and fastest steel coaster everyone thought that that would be the best. Steel Phantom became the gem of the park since Kennywood mostly focused on wooden coasters. Then in 2000 the park decided to do away with the Phantom and build a newer better coaster. Phantom fans were very upset. Why take out the best ride in the park. Put it where the pavilion are, riders said. In 1999 the park began demolition on the Steel Phantom. Then much to everyone's surprise the park didn't remove the two drops of the coaster. No one could figure out what was going on. Then park officials announced that the Phantom's Revenge would be constructed using the two drops of the steel phantom, but it would be faster and better than the Steel Phantom. In 2001 the Phantom's Revenge took it's first run with the public. It was an instant success. This proves that the legend of the Phantom cannot be removed from Kennywood.

The Experience
Riders walk right through the Phantom's mouth as they enter the ride. They board the eye catching purple and green cars and start up the Phantom's lift hill borrowed from the Steel Phantom. They climb the 160 foot lift and dive down the curved drop. Then it's up the second hill borrowed from the Phantom. The cars then plunge down the 228 foot drop into the ravine, right through the Thunderbolt's Pippin section. The cars fly though the upward bank turn at 85 mph. The cars pass back through the Thunderbolt's wooden structure and hit a few bunny hops as it goes under the first drop. The cars then make a slight dip into a few more bunny hills, and into a banked turn. A few more bunny hills and then right into the brake run.
