The Ride
In 1997 Busch Gardens Williamsburg started construction on  the fastest and tallest inverted coaster. The new coaster dubbed Alpengeist openned with rave reviews and was the center piece to Busch Gardens Williamsburg's new France section. This B&M creation is a ride that you won't miss when you visit BGW, because you can see it's white track rising above the scenery of BGW.

The Experience
The ride starts by visitors approaching what looks to be a ski lodge. As the riders board the "ski lift" they notice that something is wrong. The cars rise to the 20 story peak where all the fun starts. The riders zoom down a 170 foot curved first drop  into an immelman inversion. Then they dive towards the ground again. Next it's through the record breaking loop, then the trains speed deeper and deeper into the ravine. Then all of the sudden the track goes into a Cobra Roll over the park's Rhine River. Riders go through a quick mid-course brake station and then it's through a tunnel and into a zero-g roll. A flat spin ends the inversion, but then it's time for helix. Riders soar through the helix and into a turnaround. Then the train glides into the final brake run and coasts to a stop on the station.
