The Ride
In the year 2000 the race for the tallest coaster was in full swing. Every park wanted to have the tallest coaster. When Six Flags Magic Mountain released Goliath, another Six Flags park had had enough. Six Flags over Texas opened Titan on April 27, 2001 and showed everyone that in Texas everything was bigger. Titan was a giant, standing at 245 feet, towering over the Texas Giant by 100 feet. This giant comes from Giovanola, creators of SFMM's Goliath. Titan exceeds Goliath not only in height, but it's longer to.

The Experience
Riders board sit down coaster trains seated 2 abreast. They secure their lap restraints and the ride is off. The trains emerge from the station and make a 180 degree turn to the lift hill. Once hooked on the chain the train is pulled to the 230 foot summit. Once the chain disengages, riders plummet down a 255 foot drop into a fog filled tunnel. The trains exit the tunnel at 85 mph and climb a steep second hill. The course leads riders to a second drop that sends then plummeting down a 186 foot drop. Next a Camelback Hump gives rides a healthy serving of airtime. Titan's upward helix spirals the train right into the mid-course brake block. After a few seconds of rest, riders dive around a left hand banked U-Turn and dive downward again. The next feature of this ride is what give it character. Riders speed into the high speed double helix. Upon exiting the helix riders are turned back through the center of it by a carousel curve. Finally, the track banks around a 180 degree turn and the train enters the station.
