Coaster Collection - The Legend

The Ride
In 1994 a small park in Santa Claus, Indiana contacted Custom Coaster International to build them a wooden coaster for their 1995 season. Holiday World never expected their new creation to do as well as it did with coaster fans. With great success of the Raven, Holiday World was looking to add a second wooden coaster from CCI. In 2000 CCI was back to work again at Holiday World creating a second world class coaster. Five years after Raven opened, Holiday World's dream to have another wooden coaster came to life. Legend debuted on May 6, 2000 as the tallest, fastest, longest coaster that the state of Indiana had ever seen. Legend turns to the Legend of Sleepy Hollow for it's theme. Riders race through the woods of Indiana while they are being chased by non other that the Headless Horseman.

The Experience
Riders board one of two of Legend's PTC coaster trains and embark out of the station. After rounding a quick curve the chain lift picks the train up and carries it over the Splashin Safari water park. At the top the trains make a right hand turn before they drop down the 113 foot drop and into the Legend's first tunnel. Upon exiting the tunnel riders begin the climb of the second hill. The track bend in the other direction and sends riders up and then winding down the 77 foot spiral drop. The element ends with a speed hop that crosses over the entrance to the spiral drop. The trains ascend a third hill and then plunge into a second tunnel. Riders then enter the Double Helix. Riders complete 630 degrees of banking while they fly through a third tunnel. Another speed hill leads riders into the fourth and last tunnel. The trains finally begin the run to the station. Riders are thrown to the left, the right, and then around a right handed turn. Then the trains finally coast back into the school house.
