Coaster Collection - Silver Star

The Ride
In 2002 Europa Park made a name for itself when it released Silver Star. Silver Star is one of four speed coasters from the Swiss designer Bolliger and Mabillard. Silver Star is close to all the speed coasters, but most closely related to Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure. Silver Star fits in a park that was once dominated by Mack rides.

The Experience
Riders board the open coach speed coaster cars and make a slight bend to the lift hill. They're carried up 240 feet above the ground and catapulted down the 65 degree first drop. Reaching speeds of nearly 80 mph, they soar over a Camelback Hill and then the course heads upward. Then it's the Hammerhead Curve which is unique to this coaster and Nitro. A quick 90 degree curve takes the train parallel to the Camelback Hump. The trains enter a quick brake block and then with a small hop they enter the Carousel Curve. The coaster reverses back towards the station, while once again the trains parallel the structure. The finale of this coaster is a tangled mess of twists and turns. Then it's into the brakes to end the ride on Rust, Germany's first speed coaster.
