The Problem:
As Universal Studios prepared to open its new Islands of Adventure theme park, it suddenly found itself stranded on the "Jurassic Island" when the engineering firm contracted to build a family ride went out of business. Not only were they out a contractor, the prototype phase of the ride was not working, budgets were already being drained–and the schedule for the park opening still had to be met.
The Solution:
Already commissioned as a third-party reviewer, Setpoint stepped in to complete the project–and then went a few steps farther. Understanding that Universal Studios wanted to create a free-flying dinosaur-themed ride, Setpoint suggested new layout and chassis improvements that eliminate any jolts from the ride experience. The new ride, the Pteranadon Flyers, not only proved to be hugely popular with riders of all ages, it was the first ride up and running in the park–an accomplishment so significant, Universal Studios management praised Setpoint's ability to show that "milestones can be met with proper dedication, cooperation, and proper planning."
