Six Flags "Only high Attendence Parks get a New Ride"
By: Coaster Josh
Six Flags obviously hasn't had the year it's expected. When you really take the facts and study them, you find out that it's basically the parks fault. With the major expansion and the addition of many new rides in 2000 and 2001, this is an off year. Six Flags can't afford to make an announcement that says only parks with attendence rating higher than the year before get a new ride. With their major competition from Cedar Fair, and other small amusement organizations, they need a new ride every year.
Now that we're on that subject, there isn't really a reason why Six Flags can't add new rides to their smaller parks. Six Flags has a tendency to go for something new every year. Let's face it a chain with that many parks just can't do that, but they can add new shows, and just keep the parks looking nice. Now let's get to the point I want to get across. I'd like to start this article with a quote that I have heard on many websites, about Six Flags. It was announced by Six Flags that they will only add new attractions to their parks, that had an attendence rating higher than the year before. There is absolutly no reason for this comment to be made.
There doesn't have to be a new coaster every year, but in case you have forgotten Six Flags has a handful of coasters in storage at Old Indiana Fun Park, and at various other Six Flags locations. Many other these coasters should have went to other parks, but ended up rusting in the weeds instead. These coasters are built by many well known designers and would bring guest into many of the smaller Six Flags parks. Some of the coaster stored in these locations are, Viper, an Anton Schwarzkopf shuttle loop, Black Widow, an Arrow Shuttle Loop, Python, an another Arrow shuttle looper at Six Flags America, Screamin' Delta Demon, an Intamin AG bobsled coaster, Rock n' Roller Coaster, an Arrow creation, and Choas, a Vekoma MK700-Indoor. These are just a few coasters, that were popular until they were shut down. Many of these coaster were very popular at Opryland USA, before it was shutdown. These coasters should be reconstructed at other parks, not be left rusting in a mudhole.
Six Flags has a way for ditching great rides, it makes you wonder what other rides Six Flags has stored away somewhere. This would be a great way for Six Flags to bring up the attendence in their small parks. It just makes me wonder one thing. Will Shockwave end up rusting away at Old Indaina or will it be relocated and given a second life.
That's all for this week. Come back next week and read the discussion on the new ride at Cedar Point.
