Coaster Collection - Drachen Fire

The Ride
Drachen Fire was a great addition to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Built for the 1992 season the ride was a great addition to BGW's growing coaster collection. The coaster originally to be built be B&M was a first of it's kind. The new design called for new cars and some new features that a quite popular today. Unfortunately B&M couldn't finish construction on the ride due to inexperience because of being a fairly new coaster company. So BGW turned to coaster builders Arrow for help. Arrow took on the project, but made some mistakes. The ride was rough and the cars were uncomfortable. The ride was closed in 2000 and never reopened. Sadly the ride was dismantled this year and melted down for scrap. When you asked the BGW employees about Drachen Fire they never even acknowledged it was even there. A sad end to a great coaster.

The Experience
Drachen Fire started out by going up the lift hill to a never before used first drop. The drop started out by going through a corkscrew and then descending down the first drop. The ride then went through a complicated maze of twists and turns giving it six major inversions. The ride went through a final corkscrew before entering the station. In 1998 the final corkscrew was removed because of complaints of the ride being to rough. The ride then closed and was never reopened.
